It’s that time of year… Cochon 555 returned to Washington D.C. on Sunday August 6th. As always, I was there. Here are a few of my favorite photos
An afternoon event filled with a lavish 30-course tasting menu taken standing up, it was a friendly competition of five of the city’s top chefs cooking one whole, heritage breed pig from a local family farm, all paired with amazing wines and spirits. This chefs are: Kosta Kontogiannis (the event’s winner) of Kingbird at The Watergate Hotel, Ben Pflaumer of Osteria Morini, Jon Sybert of Tail Up Goat, Zachary Mills of Wit & Wisdom Tavern, and BJ Lieberman of Rose’s Luxury. In addition, there were two satellite competitions, the Somm Smackdown (wine/pig matching) and Punch Kings (barkeeps facing off in whole-bottle punch tilt). There were boutique wines like, Smoked Old-Fashioneds, a Tiki Bar and Heritage Rum Cart, and the Glenfiddich Experience.
Over the years, I have been to many of the Cochon events. If you’d like to see some of my photos you can find them here: 2012, 2013 Epic, 2013, 2014, 2015 Heritage BBQ and 2016
If you like what you see, please consider hiring me for an in-home dinner or cooking lesson. I run a personal chef business based out of Frederick, MD. Get more information here. Thank you.
