Communication, or Lack Of

Let me pose a question. How is it that we have phones and computers growing out of every orifice, yet communication is becoming so poor?
Much of it seems to be a general lack of respect. In recent weeks I have had numerous important emails to colleagues go unanswered, had a cook quit with no notice, had dinner guests show up to my house 2 hours late without letting us know, and I showed up to both a dinner party and a business conference that had been cancelled without my knowledge. What causes the breakdown?
When we have issues at work, its almost always due to a lack of communication, most often caused because someone didn’t take the time to properly explain something. Take the extra minute or 5 to make sure everyone is on the same page. Let people know what’s going on.
