Vacation Rentals & Retreats I Recommend
Over the years, I’ve cooked private dinners at quite a few vacation rentals, Airbnbs and retreat properties throughout Maryland, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Washington D.C. and Northern Virginia. From cabins and vacation rentals near Harpers Ferry to larger vacation homes near Frederick, Middleburg, Gettysburg and Capon Bridge, I’ve gotten to know some really great properties and their owners along the way.
Whether you’re planning a family getaway, a birthday weekend, a bachelorette party or just a few days away with friends, I wanted to share some of the places I’ve enjoyed working at and think are worth checking out.
Featured Properties
Below are some of the vacation rentals, cabins and retreat properties I recommend. Some are places where I cook regularly, while others I’ve cooked at for special events. Each offers something a little different, whether you’re looking for a quiet weekend away or a larger property where everyone can stay together.

Mountain Mama Vacation Rentals
Harpers Ferry, West Virginia area
Mountain Mama offers a wide selection of cabins and vacation homes in the Harpers Ferry area, including waterfront properties and larger homes for group getaways. I’ve cooked at quite a few of their properties over the years, and they’re a great option for a trip to the area.

Mountainaire Luxury Cabin
Capon Bridge, West Virginia
Mountainaire is a beautiful cabin near Ice Mountain in Capon Bridge, WV. The property sleeps up to 11 guests and has a great kitchen, spacious gathering areas, a wraparound porch, and plenty of amenities. I’ve enjoyed cooking private dinners here, and it’s a great spot for a getaway with family or friends.

Perennial Stays
Harpers Ferry, West Virginia & Columbia, Pennsylvania
Perennial Stays offers three historic properties, including Magnolia Pond Farm in Harpers Ferry, WV, which sleeps up to 13 guests, and The Distillery House and The General Store in Columbia, PA. I’ve enjoyed cooking at their properties over the years and have gotten to know the owners.

The Log House at Sugarloaf Mountain
Dickerson, Maryland
Located at the base of Sugarloaf Mountain in Dickerson, MD, this five-bedroom log home sleeps up to 17 guests and features a large kitchen and spacious deck. I’ve cooked private dinners here several times, and it’s a great spot for family getaways and group gatherings.
